Lend a Helping Hand

Since I arrived at Shelter for Change from Louisiana I have had a great experience. Karen and Chris have shown nothing but mutual respect and have a wonderful understanding to my unique situation. They are kind, compassionate, sympathetic and responsive. Chris was excellent in finding me meetings in this area, as I am new to Riverside County. I cannot thank him and Karen enough for the genuine loving care that I received from day one. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, I wish Shelter for Change nothing but success as they continue to grow!

In 2009 I first met Chris Raahauge, I had been in and out of the program since then. I reconnected with Chris back in May through my sponsor Charlie. I reached out to him and his wife Karen Raahauge and they have treated me like family since day one. It's amazing how selfless they are and how much they care about each person who walks through their door! They have devoted their lives to the 12 steps of recovery and their family.

My name is Randy a grateful, recovering addict-alcoholic. It would not be possible if not for the Shelter for Change Foundation. Here is what they have done for me and my loved ones. Today I have over month clean and sober. When I finally was just tired, beatdown and broke down I reached out for help. It took only one phone call. I spoke with them on Tuesday and by Friday I was on my way to an amazing facility. They are helping me out with a job and I will be living in one of their sober living house upon completion of my program. Hey Chris I just wanted to check in and let you all know how I'm doing. Well I'm great still clean since I got home. 5 months I have again. I can't thank you enough for all you guys did for me. I was the worst opiate addict anyone could ever imagine. But you all saw a light in me I thought I had already pawned or sold. I'm thankful you got me into such good program's. But the biggest thing I'm thankful for is just you and your wife. Out of the 4 months I was there you never lied not once. You both went far beyond just helping me. You are my friends. And for that I always be yours. We can never erase our addiction. But with the help you provide. We can chain that demon up and starve his ass. I never thought I could walk with out my demons. You help me see I can. So brother now I do. I stood up the day you called me back and said "yes I'll help you I love you brother". I just wanted to say thank and let you know I'm doing great. your wife and yourself truly are one of the biggest influences that has got me to this day in my life. 5 months clean! I love it!
